Terms and conditions

Basingstoke Amateur Theatrical Society (‘BATS’, ‘we’, ‘our’) maintains this website (‘site’) for your personal entertainment and information about our productions. Your membership and access to and use of our website is subject to the following Terms and Conditions and your continued use indicates your acceptance under all applicable laws.
1 – Ownership and copyright
The copyright and other intellectual property rights in all materials on the website, including but not limited to logo, page content, photographs, graphical images the design and layout of the site is owned by BATS or is used under licence from a third-party owner. You may only download material on the site for non-commercial, personal purposes, provided you retain copyright notices on the materials and/or link back to the source page(s) on the site. You may not, however, distribute, reproduce, change, transmit or re-use the contents of the site for commercial purposes unless specific consent is obtained, in writing from BATS.
2 – Website availability and access
Whilst BATS endeavours to ensure that the website is available 24 hours a day, we will be not liable if for any reason the site is unavailable for any time period. Access to the website may be suspended temporarily and without notice in a number of circumstances including, but not limited to, system failure, maintenance or repair or for reasons beyond the control of BATS. The design and specifications of the website may also be altered at any time.
Your use and browsing of the website is at your own risk. We do not guarantee that accessing the site will be compatible with all hardware or software packages used. We shall not be responsible or liable for any damage to, or viruses that may infect your computer/device as a result of accessing the website or downloading content. BATS shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever or howsoever arising from your access to or use of the site, except to the extent that such exclusion is not permitted by law.
3 – Third-party websites
Where the website contains links to other parties’ websites, BATS does not endorse or approve the content or opinions of any third-party site, nor will it have any liability in connection with them. Any visits that you make to any third-party websites from our site is at your own risk and your interactions on those sites shall be subject to the respective terms and conditions of those websites.
4 – Purchase of tickets for our productions
We almost always perform our productions at the Haymarket or Anvil and tickets can only be purchased through the Anvil Arts box office. Your purchase is subject to their Terms and Conditions of Sale.
5 – Terms and conditions of membership
All classes of Members must agree to the rules of the Society’s Constitution and understand and agree that your personal data will be processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
5.1 – Payment of membership
The membership year runs from 1 July - 30 June each year and the annual membership fee is set at the AGM – see the webpage pay the annual membership fee for the current price and payment methods. You can join at any point during the membership year; there is no discount on the membership fee. The annual membership fee must be paid prior to auditioning for any Production (it is free to audition to join BATS).
5.2 – Card transaction and website account creation fees
For membership payments made by debit or credit card, you will not be charged a transaction fee. BATS will cover this cost, provided via Stripe (fixed fee and 1.5% of the total value = £0.58) and also the cost to create your website account, provided by SentryLogin (1% of the total value = £0.25).
5.3 – Cancellation of membership
You can request a full refund of the annual membership fee within 14 days of the date you made payment to us. We will process the refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case within 30 days of the day you have given notice of your cancellation. You must complete the below ‘request refund of membership fee’ form, which will be paid into your nominated bank account.
Membership fee refunds
If you request a refund of your annual membership fee and originally paid by credit or debit card, the refund will be paid onto the original payment card. The transaction fee taken by Stripe (fixed fee and 1.4% of the total value) will be refunded. However, the 1.0% charge levied by SentryLogin will not be refunded.
If you paid by direct bank transfer, standing order or cash, the membership fee will be refunded in full to your nominated bank account.
5.5 – COVID-19
All classes of Members (defined in Section 3 of the Society’s Constitution) must abide by all Government COVID-19 requirements and/or additional precautions set out by BATS. BATS will not be held liable for any unintentional exposure and/or harm due to COVID-19.
5.4 – Member website account creation and management
A different process applies for the creation of the BATS account, depending on whether you pay by debit/credit card or by bank transfer.
New members – when paying by debit/credit card, you can instantly create your Member account to enable you to login to the member’s area on the website. If you pay by bank transfer, once we have received your payment, we will create or re-activate your account and you will receive an email with your account login details. You can change your password by selecting the ‘My Profile’ option in the login box.
Existing members – when paying by debit/credit card and you already have a BATS account, choose the payment option, ‘Pay be debit/credit card’ and enter your existing username, but choose a new password. If you pay by bank transfer, once we have received your payment, we will re-activate your account and you will receive an email with your account login details. You can change your password by selecting the ‘My Profile’ option in the login box.
6 – Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
7 – Updates to these terms and conditions
We will update these terms and conditions from time-to-time to reflect changes in law or how we operate. When we make changes, we will update the ‘Effective date’ shown at the top of this page. Individual users will not be informed directly of any change.
